Read Cadet Sergeant Hamilton’s citation for his Merchant Adventurers Award:

‘Cadet Sergeant Hamilton joined the Army Cadet Force in August 2021. He joined Huddersfield Detachment at 15, since then he has attended every training event offered and wholly embraced the ACF culture.

Tremaine was a quiet cadet, looking a little out of his depth, but as he gained more experience he never looked back, becoming a positive go-to cadet more able than his current rank showed. He has progressed through the syllabus to be a 4-star cadet and has done so due to his commitment to succeed and be the best he can. He has recently completed his Silver Duke of Edinburgh award.

Tremaine gained his county colours at National level athletics and has a keen interest in shooting, having attended County Target Rifle events. He represented D Company in this year’s Black Rat competition where he impressed with his motivational attitude and leadership skills.

Tremaine was Standard Bearer during Remembrance parades in Huddersfield. He supported Match-4-Heroes raising funds for Veteran causes. He has visited the National Arboretum with his detachment and is passionate about community work. He is one of the first Cadets to volunteer for any community or fundraising event. It is clear that his leading passion is for helping others and giving back to all communities.

He has made a huge impact at the Huddersfield Detachment – he continues to impress all staff, both in the detachment and at HQ. He has the initiative to solve problems or complete jobs prior to any staff member asking him to do so. This attitude is then passed on to younger Cadets. This Christmas, he led Huddersfield Detachment to victory as their Team Leader in D Company’s inaugural ‘Pte Thomas Wroe Memorial Trophy’. Throughout the competition, he made on-the-spot decisions and ensured all team members were involved.

Cadet Sergeant Hamilton is a worthy recipient of this year’s Merchant Adventurers’ Tankard Award.’
