THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT

Latest from Facebook

The regimental family is sad to announce the passing of one of our few remaining, D-Day veterans, Pte Ken Foster. Ken initially served with the West Yorkshire Regiment but later transferred to the East Yorkshire Regiment and took part in the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944. In August 1944, Kenneth lost part of his right foot and his left leg below the knee near Bayeux, Normandy, “whilst making a brew”!
Ken’s funeral service will take place on Mon 5 Sep 2022 at the Grenoside Crematorium in Sheffield and members of the Official PWO Regimental Association – PLEASE READ ALL PINNED NOTICES will be in attendance. Ken is pictured here on his 75th wedding anniversary in 2020, when he was presented with a gift by Maj Mally Birkett #4YORKS.
