Many congratulations to the 1st Battalion team – a display of bravery second to none as they competed in the British Army Boxing Championships.

Over 105 fighters entered the competition with, over a 4 day event that had over 70 matchups. Each unit was as able to have submit 6 scoring boxers into the competition. The team consisted of Pte Chapman at Lightwelter, Pte Sloan at Welterweight, Pte Usher at Light middle, Cpl Noble at Middleweight Pte Smith also at middleweight, Cpl Perry at cruiserweight and final Pte Dickinson at Super Heavy.

1 RYORKS managed to get 3 boxers into the final day and awarded two individual champions.
Cpl Perry and Pte Usher victories with Pte Sloan narrowly mission on a split decision.

The tenaciousness of the team placed the unit top of the Inter Unit Comp and overall winners, beating 7 other Major units with 1 LANCS finishing runner up.

Pte Sloan & Usher have also been selected to box for the Army and also helped the infantry win the CORPS cup beating the Signals REME
