On this historic day, June 6th, we pause to remember two significant milestones.

First, we commemorate the 81st anniversary of D-Day. We honour the bravery and sacrifice of the Allied soldiers who landed on the beaches of Normandy in 1944, turning the tide of World War II and beginning the liberation of Western Europe. Their legacy of courage endures.

Secondly, today proudly marks the 19th Formation Day of The Royal Yorkshire Regiment. Formed on this very day in 2006, it’s a fitting date that also saw CSM Stan Hollis of our antecedent regiment, The Green Howards, earn the only Victoria Cross on D-Day.

We remember our history, celebrate our Regiment, and serve with pride.
