THE royal YORKSHIRE REGIMENT

Honouring Yorkshire’s Finest at Huddersfield Drill Hall

It was a true privilege for the Royal Yorkshire Regiment to help host the Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards for West Yorkshire, held at the historic Huddersfield Drill Hall. This venue has special significance for us, as it’s where our forebears in the 5th Battalion The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment mobilised for service in both World War I and World War II. It’s also from these very halls that soldiers from our own 4th Battalion, The Royal Yorkshire Regiment, have recently deployed on operations across the globe.

As the last remaining County Regiment in the British Army, we are a family regiment, with many of our members hailing from Yorkshire. We were proud to host the award winners and their families, and it was especially inspiring to see one of our own, Cadet Sergeant Kelsie Quinn from the Yorkshire (North and West) Army Cadet Force, receive a well-deserved award.
