Dante’s Lad Claims Victory in The Royal Yorkshire Regiment Handicap at York

York Racecourse, Saturday, 31st May 2025 – A thrilling day of racing at the prestigious York Racecourse saw Dante’s Lad gallop to victory in this year’s highly anticipated The Royal Yorkshire Regiment Handicap. The event celebrated the Regiment’s enduring connection with the Yorkshire community and provided a wonderful spectacle for all attendees.

Racegoers enjoyed a fantastic atmosphere, further enhanced by a rousing performance from the renowned Band of The Royal Yorkshire Regiment. Their musical talents provided a stirring soundtrack to the day, entertaining the crowds and adding a distinguished military presence to the proceedings.

The Royal Yorkshire Regiment Handicap is a highlight in the racing calendar, underscoring the deep-rooted support the Regiment enjoys across the county. Following an exciting contest on the track, the Regiment’s Honorary Colonel, Lt Col David Rhodes, was proud to present trophies to the owner, trainer, and jockey of the victorious Dante’s Lad. The winning horse was also proudly adorned with a special commemorative rug, marking its achievement in the Regiment’s namesake race.

The day was a resounding success, showcasing thrilling sport and offering an opportunity for the Regiment to engage with the public in a celebrated Yorkshire setting. The Regiment extends its congratulations to the owner, trainer, and jockey of Dante’s Lad and thanks York Racecourse for hosting another memorable event.

Due to circumstances beyond the Regiment’s control, the Officers’ Dinner and the Regimental Remembrance Service have had to be rescheduled.
